Unite Professionals are committed to the provision of high-quality case management.

One standout feature is the implementation of a comprehensive competency framework. This has delivered a number of benefits.
Competency frameworks help employees to:
- understand the job expectations and key behaviours they should demonstrate
- determine the steps that are needed to increase their proficiency levels
- identify their strengths and areas for growth
- focus on specific training and development opportunities that will help them to grow and strive for excellence
For the organisation, competencies help to build on the pre-existing organisational culture, identifying behaviours that ensure success for each employee and shared behaviours that drive success. They help to empower employees, supporting a more collaborative approach to performance management and career development. Their purpose is to ensure consistency, enhance defensibility and deliver results.
The recent guidance from the Institute of Registered case Managers (IRCM) intends to promote the expectations and requirements for quality case management practice within the newly produced competency framework, providing a benchmark to help case managers and employers plan personal and professional development.
At Unite Professionals, the pre-existing competency document, which already aligns with CQC regulations and undergoes annual review, has been refreshed to incorporate key points from the IRCM competency framework. An idea which is designed to promote consistency in the provision of case management and clarify the expectations of case managers, and one which will support case managers at Unite Professionals to meet and evidence their proficiency against the IRCM framework. This will support case managers in obtaining their Certificate of Proficiency in Case Management once this is launched.
The Unite Professionals competency document encompasses a number of domains including, Communication, Strategy, Case Management Practice, Monitoring, Duty of Care, Personal attributes, Leadership and Commercial. It outlines progressive levels of competency, enabling case managers to clearly identify how to advance to the next competency level. This promotes clear career progression, improving the quality of care our case managers provide. Case managers have annual reviews, where they are able to assess their level of competency, present supporting evidence and reflect on their growth, helping them to achieve their potential and drive motivation. It is an objective and meaningful way of evaluating proficiency and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence for Associate and employed Case Managers at different stages of their career and development.
As a new member of the Clinical team, I have been consistently struck by the company’s inclusive and empowering culture. Every colleague is treated with equal respect, regardless of their role, and there is a strong emphasis on recognising individuals’ experiences and skills and ambitions within Case management to foster learning and increase knowledge sharing across the organisation. There is a clear and unwavering commitment to providing high quality case management services to clients and stakeholders. This makes the workplace feel both purposeful and refreshingly progressive.
In conculsion.
In conclusion, Unite Professionals exemplifies a forward thinking and people-centred approach to case management. By cultivating a culture of equality, mutual respect and continuous learning, the company strives to ensure that every employee feels valued and empowered. The integration of a robust competency framework, enhanced through alignment with the IRCM guidance, reflects the organisations unwavering commitment to quality, consistency and professional development. This framework not only supports case managers in charting their growth but also reinforces the company’s dedication to excellence in service delivery. It’s a shining example of how thoughtful structure and collaborative ethos can foster personal fulfilment and organisational success.
